At the tender age of 14 he decided to start up a band called "ultima thule" at that time Ray could play but one song on the guitar (house of the rising sun). He soon realized that even though he loved music and loved writing songs he was not a singer. His talent lies in words, words that paint images, words that move emotions. After writing songs for Clearwind, a period of 5 years and 6 albums where his concentration was on shouting out a message (lets start out once again) he decided to write more songs in different styles for different artists. Ray sees songwriting as an art and in fact he is also a wellknown visual artist specializing in painting faces in acrylics, he once said "...that starting a new song is like looking at a new white canvas facing the blankness and then just start letting the images and fantasy come up from the pit of the stomach to grow and fill the whole canvas till the blankness no more exists – just a song, a song that people like listening to, a song that you will never forget..."
